We are stuck with the paradigm in the modern political arena that people’s views are governed by the image those views project. What is it about human nature that makes us want to belong to a category? Why should we rest on party-thinking in times of doubt instead of going back to the facts, applying research and considering each and every issue on its merits? Why do we form allegiances for seemingly no other reason than to form allegiances? It is a great shame that casting our political shadow over people around us has hidden the underlying arguments. Politics should be secondary to policy. The Thin Ice of Political Party Logic We all belong to ourselves, and so do our views. We are not in categories unless we let those around us put us there.
